We would probably call this one of our 'vintage' case studies, but it's also one of our most memorable. By far the smallest air to ground radio system we have ever installed, this miniture air traffic control system was installed in Kilkenny airport, Ireland. It demonstrates how we can adapt to any customer requirement, large or small.
Delcom custom built a console for the air traffic control building on the airfield, which housed two TAIT airband transceivers. The custom built radio housing also featured it's own weather station between the radios. The equipment was all connected to an external antenna mounted on the outside of the control tower. In this instance, due to the low height of the air traffic control building, no aircraft warning light was required - however in larger installation delcom fit warning lights to the antenna masts, in order to comply with aviation regulations.

Our installation team took the ferry over to Ireland along with a few select members of the office team for a 3 day visit. One of Delcom's support vehicles, complete with mobile radio masts - fully kitted out with all equipment needed to perform on-site repairs, tuning, testing and programming, went over with the team in order to provide on-site engineering facilities.

This real-life job, undertaken for a paying customer, was combined with team building and a bit of sightseeing for a few members of the Delcom team. Although a far cry from the recent international airport ground to air system we supplied, it does show that no job is too small for Delcom.
